Introduction
This handbook is designed for candidates seeking Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) registration in Maryland. It describes the process of applying for the National Nurse Aide Assessment Program (NNAAP®) and taking the NNAAP Examination. It should be kept for future reference.
The Maryland Board of Nursing, Nursing Assistant Certification Program, has contracted with Credentia, a nationally recognized leading provider of assessment services to regulatory agencies and national associations, to develop, schedule, administer, score, and report the results of the NNAAP Examination required for registration as a GNA.
The Maryland Board of Nursing is responsible for the Nursing Assistant Certification Program in the state of Maryland including GNA registration and Registry services. To be registered in Maryland as a GNA, you must first be certified as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA).
