Exam Overview

North Carolina - DoDEA - National Nurse Aide Assessment Program (NNAAP)

There are two parts of the NNAAP® Examination, the Written (or Oral) Examination and the Skills Evaluation. You will take both exams on the same day. You must pass both parts to be listed on the North Carolina Nurse Aide Registry.

The Written Examination

The Written Examination consists of seventy (70) multiple choice questions written in English. Sample examination questions are provided in this handbook.

Note: If you have difficulty reading English, you can take an Oral Examination instead of the Written Examination.

The Oral Examination consists of sixty (60) multiple-choice questions and ten (10) reading comprehension questions. If you want to take the Oral Examination, you must request it when you submit your application.

THE SKILLS EVALUATION

During the Skills Evaluation you will be asked to per- form five (5) randomly selected nurse aide skills. You will be given thirty (30) minutes to complete the five (5) skills. You will be rated on these skills by a Nurse Aide Evaluator. You must perform all five (5) skills correctly to pass the Skills Evaluation. A complete listing of the skills is shown on pages 11 to 18.

See Written (or Oral) Exam and Skills Evaluation for more details on the parts of the NNAAP Examination.
